Welcome to the Sorare MLB GW17 Breakdown.
For those new here, I provide an all-in-one place to prepare Sorare MLB managers for the upcoming Game Week every Monday and Friday.
Now that the Premier League season is over, I’d expect many football fans to find a new challenge in the MLB streets.
If that’s the case, this newsletter is a perfect way for beginners to learn about the game and assist with lineup-construction.
Feel free to message me on X at @Hunter_Himself if you have any questions or want to see something added to the newsletter!
Let’s dive in!
⏪ Game Week Rewind
Shoutout to “SonofThor” for taking down Limited All Star in GW16.
Atlanta had five games and this team had three Braves players in Acuña, Ozuna, and Iglesias.
Bobby Witt Jr. had 83 Sorare points but somehow was not on this lineup.
I also followed up my T1 finish in Limited NL with a T2 finish this week.
Matt Chapman came through with another huge Game Week, and I made sure to cover him in my latest Stock Report on FantasyPros.

⚾️ Pitching Primer
Chris Sale at PIT - Sale has been arguably the best pitcher in the league over the last month. He has given up two runs over his last five starts while striking out 43 batters. He draws a very enticing matchup against Pittsburgh who strike out at the sixth-highest rate in the league (24.8%). Either way, Sale is matchup-proof.
Corbin Burnes at CWS - He’s the SP3 on FantasyPros and draws one of the best matchups MLB has to offer. Chicago strikes out about league average (22.9%) but is in the basement in ISO (.116) and wOBA (.273).
Logan Gilbert at WSH - Gilbert has likely burned many managers with two poor starts in his last three, including an eight-run outburst against the Twins. Washington is similar to the White Sox in that they strike out at a league-average rate but are ranked poorly in just about everything else. Gilbert is 26th in K% (24.8%) and 28th in xFIP (3.55).
Other Starters Include:
Zac Gallen vs MIA
Pablo Lopez vs TEX
George Kirby at WSH
Yusei Kikuchi at DET
📞 Call To The Bullpen
All teams have three games so there is no easy advantage to be had this week.
Our best bet is to roster closers that are likely to get a save opportunity based on matchup/how close we can predict their series to be.
Closer Options:
Craig Kimbrel - BAL
Kenley Jansen - BOS
Hector Neris - CHC
James McArthur - KCR
Emmanuel Clase - CLE
Jason Foley - DET
Mason Miller - OAK
💰 Stacks
Phillies
Philly stands out quite a bit on this slate. Not as much as the Braves last week, but they stand out a lot. They get three games at Coors against pitchers ranked 400 or higher on FantasyPros.
Philly is 4th in wRC+ (115), 4th in wOBA (.332), and 10th in ISO (.158).
Braves
I wrote about Bailey Falter being one of the worst pitchers in the league the other day on FantasyPros. Mitch Keller has been serviceable but Martin Perez has also been a dumpster fire this year. Atlanta got lucky that they’re not facing Jared Jones or Paul Skenes this week.
I expect to see a lot of Braves on winning lineups again this week.
Red Sox
I’ll throw in a more sneaky stack this week in the Red Sox. Boston will not face Freddy Peralta over the weekend, but instead will get the backend of Milwaukee’s rotation at the hitter-friendly Fenway Park.
Also, Joe Ross was just placed on the IL so Sunday’s starter could be a call-up or a bullpen game. Either way, we shouldn’t be scared of whoever toes the rubber.
Rafael Devers and Jarren Duran have been on fire lately, and you can round out the stack with the powerful Tyler O’Neill.
There you have it, the Sorare MLB Slate Breakdown for Game Week 17.
All statistics referenced in this newsletter were pulled from Fangraphs.
I release these every Monday and Friday before lineup lock to help you all with preparing for the slate and setting your teams.
I hope to see everyone at the top of the leaderboards!
