⚾️ Pitching Primer
Tarik Skubal at CWS (SP2)
The best pitcher in the game versus the worst team in the game.
Skubal has recorded 20 strikeouts and 0 earned runs over his last two starts, and the White Sox have the third-worst wRC+ in MLB (81).
The only pause would be that he’s pitching Thursday, and there may be a risk of him getting bumped off the slate.
Zack Wheeler at TOR (SP3)
Toronto sneakily strikes out at the lowest rate in MLB (18.4%), so this may not be a ceiling game for Wheeler.
He’s coming off his worst outing of the season against Atlanta, but I think we see him bounce back here.
Wheeler still has the 5th-lowest xFIP this year (2.68).
Paul Skenes vs HOU (SP4)
Skenes is in excellent form right now.
He’s coming off a 7-strikeout shutout of Arizona, and now will face Houston, which ranks about league-average on offense.
Skenes has the 13th-ranked xFIP in MLB (3.07).
Chris Sale vs ARI (SP5)
Sale hasn’t allowed more than two runs in a game since April 13th.
He’s shown to have one of the highest floors in MLB this season, and he’ll catch Arizona when they’re cold.
Sale is third in K/9 with an 11.44 mark.
Other Starters Include:
Logan Webb at SDP (SP6)
Spencer Strider vs ARI (SP9)
Max Fried vs CLE (SP11)
Dylan Cease at SFG (SP12)
George Kirby vs BAL (SP13)
Framber Valdez at PIT (SP15)
Joe Ryan at ATH (SP16)
Pablo Lopez at ATH (SP20)
Bryan Woo vs BAL (SP21)
Hunter Greene vs MIL (SP22)
💰 Stacks
Tigers
Detroit is in an excellent spot here with four games against the White Sox.
Some of their best hitters (Like Kerry Carpenter) have been a bit cold lately, but he and Riley Greene look like a great two-man stack this week.
Detroit is 8th in wRC+ (107) this year.
Dodgers
A series against the Mets is tough, but the Dodgers could easily outscore the Tigers here based on their offense alone.
L.A. is second in wRC+ (128) this year.
Twins
The Twins are not a fun stack to deploy (At least until Royce Lewis comes back to life), but four games against the Athletics could make some of their bats pop off.
Correa, Buxton, and Jeffers look like a nice stack against two lefties here.
Other Stacks Include:
Mets, Padres, Marlins, Giants
