⚾️ Pitching Primer
Tyler Glasnow at PIT - He’s struck out at least six batters in each of his last three games but also given up at least two runs. He’s still a top-five pitcher in the league and Pittsburgh strikes out at the sixth-highest rate in the league (24.8%).
Sonny Gray vs. COL - Gray has the highest K/9 in MLB (12.16). That is not a typo. Now he gets a fantastic start against Colorado at home. He is going on Thursday but there isn’t any weather risk in St. Louis. It looks like it will be sonny (pun intended).
Corbin Burnes at TOR - Toronto has heated up a bit but I prefer targeting them against lefties, and definitely won’t be targeting them against a dominant righty like Burnes. He’s the SP4 on FantasyPros.
George Kirby at OAK - He hasn’t been great, but pitchers tend to have spike weeks when facing Oakland. The A’s strike out at the second-highest rate in the league (26.1%). Kirby’s xFIP is 3.39 but he has a serviceable 23.3% whiff rate.
Other Starters Include:
Dylan Cease at LAA
Tarik Skubal at TEX
Shota Imanaga vs. CWS
Jesus Luzardo vs. TBR
Zack Wheeler vs. MIL
Kevin Gausman vs. BAL
📞 Call To The Bullpen
I was recently on the Sorare in the States podcast and we were chatting about relief pitchers.
Kris, aka MLSCardGuy, mentioned how important it is to target RP’s who did not make many appearances in the Game Week prior.
I will be doing my best to target pitchers who are in great matchups and have not pitched in a while.
This will maximize chances of earning a relief appearance, which is what we want to look for the most.
I would recommend not prioritizing the closers who pitched in at least two games in the previous Game Week.
Closer Options:
Didn’t pitch in GW19:
Carlos Estevez
Mason Miller
Kirby Yates
Tanner Scott
Pitched at least two games in GW19:
Clay Holmes
Yimi Garcia (Filling in for Jordan Romano)
Emmanuel Clase
Jason Foley
James McArthur
Raisel Iglesias
Hector Neris
Alexis Diaz
Paul Sewald
Robert Suarez
💰 Stacks
Reds
Not pictured here is their Thursday game where they will face Javier Assad of the Cubs.
That matchup isn’t great, but the three games at Coors Field should bring several runs for Cincinnati.
They will also only face one lefty in Ty Blach so you could make a strong case for these left-handed hitters on the Reds in TJ Friedl and Jake Fraley.
Nationals
Washington is a sneaky good offense and this week they draw four games, three against bad Mets pitchers, and one against Reynaldo Lopez of the Braves (not pictured above).
Peterson is the only left-handed they will face which bodes well for C.J. Abrams, Jesse Winker, Luis Garcia, and Eddie Rosario.
Washington actually leads MLB in stolen bases at 94, which is excellent for fantasy.
The best part is their prices are all cheap in the Sorare marketplace outside of Abrams.
Other Stacks Include:
Orioles, Diamondbacks, Rockies, Mariners
