⚾️ Pitching Primer
Tarik Skubal vs PIT (SP2)
I really wish Skubal and Skenes were pitching on the same day because that would be theater.
The Pirates are a fantastic matchup for pitchers.
They have the 6th-highest K% (23.4%) and the 29th-best wRC+ (78).
The reigning AL Cy Young award winner should have no problem here.
Paul Skenes at DET (SP3)
Skenes has not allowed more than one run in a game since May 5th.
The Tigers have the 8th-highest wRC+ (108) on the season, but they strike out at the 7th-highest rate (23.3%).
There is some solid K-upside here, but Skubal is still my number one this week.
Chris Sale vs NYM (SP5)
Sale screwed over many managers last week (myself included) by being bumped off the slate.
So instead of facing the Rockies, he will have a much tougher matchup here against the Mets.
The Mets strike out at the fourth-lowest rate (20.1%) and have the fourth-highest wRC+ (115) this season.
Other Starters Include:
Logan Gilbert vs BOS (SP6)
Logan Webb vs CLE (SP7)
Garrett Crochet at SEA (SP8)
Yoshinobu Yamamoto vs SDP (SP11)
Framber Valdez at ATH (SP12)
Sonny Gray at CWS (SP17)
Carlos Rodon vs LAA (SP20)
Christopher Sanchez at MIA (SP23)
💰 Stacks
Nationals
The Nationals make for an interesting stack this week.
There are a lot of teams playing four games, so they may get lost in the shuffle a bit, but four games against the Rockies is huge.
I can see a James Wood/CJ Abrams stack doing some damage here.
Phillies
Philly is ranked 9th in wRC+ (107) this season.
It’s unfortunate Bryce Harper is still out, because he and Kyle Schwarber would be an elite stack this week.
I still like Trea Turner and Nick Castellanos this week, and even Max Kepler could be a sneaky/cheap play this week.
Yankees
The Yankees get Giancarlo Stanton back for this series (which may or may not be a good thing).
They shouldn’t have a problem with any of these Angels pitchers.
The Yankees are 2nd in wRC+ (123).
Other Starters Include:
Dodgers, Padres, Rays, Orioles
