Welcome to the Sorare MLB GW31 Breakdown.
For those new here, I provide an all-in-one place to prepare Sorare MLB managers for the upcoming Game Week every Monday and Friday.
There won’t be another newsletter until next Friday due to the All-Star break.
However, there will be some action on Sorare with the All-Star Special Weekly taking place during the All-Star game.
I am headed to Texas alongside the VIP winners to capture some content for the Sorare MLB Instagram and more!
Also, if you missed the latest episode of Sideline Talk with Jon Morosi, make sure to check it out.
I broke down the All-Star Special Weekly and we chatted about All-Star week.
Feel free to message me on X at @Hunter_Himself if you have any questions or want to see something added to the newsletter!
Let’s dive in!
⏪ Game Week Rewind
Big congrats to Miguel Flores who took down Limited NL with a late homer from Eugenio Suarez.
This is the second time Miguel has won with the help from Suarez.
It also helps that Tyler Stephenson had 105.
Miguel will be opening up his Star reward live on our stream later today.
Also congrats to Docscrew34 for winning SR NL.
A big week from the Phillies got the job done.
⭐️ Special Weekly
New segment unlocked.
The people wanted a Special Weekly section so I will be replacing “Roster Movements” with this one.
Here I will be breaking down any upcoming Special Weekly and offering up strategy that can be implemented.
This week we have the last week of “Aces High”
In Aces High, pitchers get 6 points for an inning pitched rather than 3.
The cheat code this week is Seth Lugo, who’s 2022 cards can be used at RP.
Lugo has also pitched the third-most innings this year…BUT, he is headed to Fenway to face a red-hot Boston offense.
If you have his 2022 card I think you have to play it at RP because of the upside it brings. It helps that Lugo has been dominant this season.
Otherwise I have listed some guys that make sense in this contest at SP.
Pitching Options:
Logan Gilbert - Facing the Angels and leads the league in IP (125.1)
Ranger Suarez - Facing Oakland and has the 24th-most IP (108)

☔️ Rain Check
I think it’s safe to say there won’t be any weather issues this week.
Sunday looks clear across the U.S. and would allow everyone to play a doubleheader on the off chance it’s needed.
Baltimore - Thunderstorms on Friday but Sunday
Boston - Thunderstorms on Saturday but Sunday is clear
New York City - Thunderstorms Saturday but Sunday is clear
Philadelphia - Rain Friday and Saturday but Sunday is clear
⚾️ Pitching Primer
Garret Crochet vs PIT
Crochet had a down game against the Marlins in his last outing, but I expect him to bounce back here against Pittsburgh.
He’s first in K/9 (12.47) and second in xFIP (2.47).
It’s been him, Chris Sale, and Tyler Glasnow ahead of everyone else in this first half of the season.
Pittsburgh strikes out at the sixth-highest rate in the league (24.6%) and their power bats that scare me bat from the left side.
Nick Lodolo vs MIA
The rain prevented Lodolo from having a dominant outing against the Rockies, so Hunter Greene had to take the honors instead.
This Miami offense is one of the weakest in baseball.
The strikeout about league-average but ranks dead last in ISO (.119).
Their lone All-Star was their closer Tanner Scott.
Lodolo has a 9.41 K/9 and shouldn’t have a problem with the fish.
Other Starters Include:
Chris Sale at SDP
Logan Gilbert at LAA
Sony Gray vs CHC
Zac Gallen vs TOR
Tarik Skubal vs LAD
Freddy Peralta vs WSH
📞 Call To The Bullpen
The Cubs and Cardinals play four games, automatically making Ryan Helsley and Hector Neris fantastic plays.
Helsley has been great all season and was one of the few closers named to the All-Star roster.
Neris on the other hand, hasn’t had a great season, but having one extra game makes him superior to the other options in my opinion.
I will list some other closer options that are in good spots this week based on matchup/rest etc.
Closer Options:
Ryan Helsley
Hector Neris
Alexis Diaz
Trevor Megill
Jose Alvarado
Kenley Jansen
💰 Stacks
Cardinals/Cubs
The Cardinals and Cubs are the top-two stacks by default as they both will play four games this week.
The Cardinals have a better pitching matchup but I prefer the Cubs offense overall here.
I like the idea pairing two or three Cubs with a few other guys in good spots.
Mets
The Mets get the Rockies for three games so they instantly jump into play this week. (Sorry Talor).
Tanner Gordon only made his first start in his last outing but gave up 5 runs including two homers against the Royals.
The Mets have the fifth-highest ISO (.168) in the league this year.
Phillies
Philly got a lot healthier with the return of Kyle Schwarber and Bryce Harper.
They rank 6th in wRC+ (112) and will face the backend of the Athletics rotation.
Oakland has been cycling through starters this year and it doesn’t seem to be working.
The best part about this team is Mason Miller but he won’t be out there when they’re trailing.
Other Stacks Include:
Red Sox, Twins, Brewers
There you have it, the Sorare MLB Slate Breakdown for Game Week 31.
