Sorare MLB GW32 Breakdown | Pivetta Annihilates the A's
I guess you could call me a soccer guy now.
A couple days ago I attended an exhibition soccer match between Chelsea and Wrexham played at the UNC (American) football stadium.
I found out shortly before the game that Wrexham is owned by Ryan Reynolds and this was their first match in the states.
Why was it played at UNC? I have no idea, but the stadium was just about filled to max capacity.
I often get so caught up in US sports and forget that soccer is the biggest sport on planet earth.
Now that I am a #soccerguy I should probably dabble more in Sorare’s primary game.
But until then we keep the baseball content rolling.
Let’s dive in!
⏪ Game Week Rewind
For the second week in a row, Corbin Burnes finished as the top overall pitcher.
In his two starts post All Star break, Burnes has pitched 14 innings and struck out 23 batters while allowing 4 hits and zero earned runs.
Kirby matched his season-high in strikeouts (10) last night against the Twins who strike out at the highest rate in the league.
Nick Pivetta set a Red Sox franchise record for most strikeouts in a relief appearance with 13 on Monday against the A’s.
Brennan Bernardino pitched the first two innings of this game, but then gave way to Pivetta who pitched the following 6 innings.
Otherwise it should be noted that two Detroit pitchers are featured here, which was more predictable than it typically is with a series against the similarly ranked Royals.
Austin Riley cracked the century mark in GW31 by totaling up four homers and 11 RBIs over his last three games.
Wilmer Flores is a name we don’t typically see here, but he took advantage of his time playing in the most home run-friendly park in the league by hitting four long balls in the Giants four-game series with the Reds.

⚾️ Pitching Primer
Gerrit Cole and Luis Severino vs KCR
Both Cole and Severino draw an excellent matchup at home this week against the Royals who are striking out at the 7th-highest rate (24.4%) and who rank bottom-six in both ISO (.140) and wOBA (.291).
We know by now that Cole is a great play, but Severino could be a sneaky-good pickup for this GW with a price tag under $3 on his Limited card.
Severino has had some poor outings (to but in nicely) over his last few starts, but he has a -279 slot differential per the SoRanks, and he is on a team that, although sits in the basement of the AL East, still has playoff hopes.
We may see some big games from Severino in the near future if he can tweak some of the issues he’s been having with his delivery.
Limited Prices: ~$22 Cole, ~$2 Severino
Jesus Luzardo vs COL
This is my first time writing up Luzardo here, but he’s quietly having an incredible season.
Luzardo currently ranks 8th in K% (28.3%) and 13th in xFIP (3.57) amongst qualified pitchers.
The matchup here is fantastic with the Rockies who are now on the road after a five-game stint in Colorado.
The Rockies strikeout at the 6th-highest rate (24.5%) and rank dead-last in wRC+ (79).
Limited Price: ~$15
Other Starters Include:
~$6 Braxton Garrett vs COL
~$25 Kevin Gausman at SEA
~$8 Dylan Cease at MIN
~$13 Zach Eflin vs BAL
~$250 Shohei Ohtani vs PIT
~$18 Framber Valdez at OAK
~$34 Shane McClanahan vs BAL
📞 Call To The Bullpen
With every team playing three games this week, our best strategy is to target series’ we think can stay competitive to maximize our chances for save opportunities.
Games I’m targeting:
ARI/CIN, PHI/CLE, TOR/SEA, STL/CHC
~$11 Alexis Diaz
~$4 Craig Kimbrel
~$16 Emmanuel Clase
~$10 Jordan Romano
~$4 Paul Sewald
~$2 Jordan Hicks (Filling in for Ryan Helsley)
~$3 Adbert Alzolay
💰 Stacks
Diamondbacks
Arizona will head to Great American for a three-game series against Ben Lively, Brandon Williamson, and Luke Weaver for the Reds.
The Reds are still without their two top arms Hunter Greene and Nick Lodolo, and they won’t toss out impressive rookie Andrew Abbott in this series.
The Dbacks are getting wrecked by Spencer Strider as we speak, but they should fare much better in the best ballpark for home runs and against the injury-riddled Cincinnati pitching staff.
Arizona ranks 10th in wRC+ (103), 12th in ISO (.169), and 8th in wOBA (.327).
~$16 Ketel Marte
~$123 Corbin Carroll
~$15 Christian Walker
~$4 Jake McCarthy
~$2 Alek Thomas
Padres
I recommended San Diego for this past GW and they had a decent series in Toronto outside of the Thursday game.
Now they get a worse pitching staff to go up against in rookie Reese Olson, Matt Manning, and Tarik Skubal. They narrowly missed Eduardo Rodriguez in this one.
The Padres are still top-ten in ISO, 14th in wOBA and 11th in wRC+ on the season.
This team is expensive to pick up in the Sorare market, but if you have a stack, then it makes sense to prioritize them in the contest you are focusing on the most.
~$124 Fernando Tatis Jr.
~$56 Juan Soto
~$42 Manny Machado
~$11 Xander Bogaerts
~$3 Gary Sanchez
Other Stacks to Consider:
Marlins, Yankees, Reds, Brewers, Giants
Value Options (Under $20):
Middle Infield:
~$11 CJ Abrams, ~$18 Sean Murphy, ~$13 Willy Adames, ~$8 Ezequiel Tovar, ~$11 Andres Gimenez, ~$14 Xander Bogaerts, ~$3 Tommy Edman
Corner Infield:
~$13 Josh Naylor, ~$10 Spencer Torkelson, ~$6 Jose Abreu, ~$19 Anthony Santander, ~$9 Lourdes Gurriel Jr., ~$18 Alex Bregman, ~$18 Jorge Soler
Outfield:
~$19 Kyle Schwarber, ~$12 Eloy Jimenez, ~$8 Steven Kwan, ~$11 TJ Friedl, ~$8 Michael Conforto, ~$12 Brendan Donovan, ~$13 Jarren Duran
