☔️ Rain Check
The Orioles are going to be important to watch for weather this week.
They play five games, the first four at Camden Yards.
There is rain/thunder in the forecast, but if I had to guess, they will play all five of their games.
Thunderstorms are projected for Cleveland on Thursday as well, but there is just a 55% chance.
It’s also four days away so things are subject to change.
Baltimore - 55% chance showers Tues./36% chance thunderstorms Wed.
Boston - 76% chance thunderstorms Wed.
Chicago - 64% chance of thunderstorms Thurs.
⚾️ Pitching Primer
Nick Pivetta vs SEA
Pivetta is coming off an awful outing, but that was at Coors Field.
He should bounce back nicely here against the Mariners who recently lost J.P. Crawford and Julio Rodriguez to the injured list.
Seattle strikes out 27.7% as a team which is the highest in baseball.
Pivetta’s K/9 is 10.93 which ranks 15th amongst pitchers with at least 20 innings pitched.
Framber Valdez vs PIT
Valdez has two games of 10 strikeouts over his last three, including one against the Dodgers.
He will face the Pirates here who strike out at the eighth-highest rate in the league at 24.1%.
Pittsburgh also ranks in the bottom five in ISO, wOBA, and wRC+.
Valdez has a 59.9% ground ball rate which ranks first in MLB.
Other Pitchers Include:
Chris Sale at MIL
Corbin Burnes vs TOR
Shota Imanaga vs STL
Tanner Bibee at DET
Zack Wheeler vs NYY
Paul Skenes at HOU
Logan Webb vs OAK
Taj Bradley vs MIA
📞 Call To The Bullpen
I would stick with the teams playing four and five games this week when targeting closers.
Kimbrel stands out a lot but there could be some sneaky options with the four-gamers.
Closer Options
Craig Kimbrel - BAL
Raisel Iglesias - ATL
Hector Neris - CHC
Ryan Helsley - STL
James McArthur - KCR
💰 Stacks
Orioles
The Orioles stand out quite a bit here in GW36.
Toronto pitching is decent, but they won’t face Kevin Gausman and they get a bonus game against Ben Lively and the Guardians on Thursday.
Only Kikuchi is left-handed here.
Gunnar Henderson has been cold since the All-Star break so I would have some caution there.
The Blue Jays’ bullpen has also been bad this year, ranking 26th in collective xFIP (4.45).
Baltimore ranks first in ISO (.197), third in wOBA (.329), and third in wRC+ (116) on the year.
Royals
Baltimore is the clear top stack but the Royals have a secure hold on the second spot.
They get a fantastic spot against White Sox pitching and then one against Keider Montero of the Tigers.
The Royals are 13th in ISO (.157), 13th in wOBA (.310), and 19th in wRC+ (96).
I would stick with players from the top half of this lineup like Bobby Witt, Vinnie Pasquantino, and Sal Perez.
Other Stacks Include:
Braves, Cubs, Blue Jays
