Sorare MLB GW36 Breakdown | Glasenheimer
The trade deadline is in now in the rear view mirror.
The biggest headline was probably the Mets sell off of their top-two veteran arms, alongside their closer and two utility bats.
For a team with the highest payroll, its quite shocking too see such a dump off.
How does this affect us as Sorare players?
Verlander and Scherzer actually become good value plays now that they are playing for contenders.
Both were popping in the buy-low category on Ethersport this week.
With the MLB playoffs on the horizon and the first preseason NFL game last night, the best sports time of the year is fast approaching (In my opinion).
Lets dive into GW36!
⏪ Game Week Rewind
Rangers’ pitcher Dane Dunning struck out a season-high 11 White Sox over 7 innings on Wednesday.
This could be just a flash in the pan however, as Dunning sports a 17% whiff rate on the year.
His teammate Andrew Heaney had a similar performance just one day prior, which may say more about the White Sox waiving the white flag after selling away some assets at the trade deadline.
Also, Oppenheimer doppelganger Tyler Glasnow has been dominant in his last few starts. More on him later.
Mariners’ closer Andres Munoz jumped into first last night after Seattle hit a go-ahead grand slam, paving the way for Munoz to close out the game with three strikeouts.
With Paul Sewald dealt to the Diamondbacks, Munoz now has full possession of the closer role in Seattle, and I’d expect to see him appear on this list quite often the rest of the year.
I loved the red-hot Cubs in GW35 against the poor Cincinnati pitching staff, and they did not disappoint.
Not pictured here is Nico Hoerner, Mike Tauchman, and Ian Happ, who finished in 6th, 7th, and 9th.
Chicago scored 5, 20, 16, and 5 runs in their four-game series at Wrigley.
The Cubs are just 2.5 games back of first place in the NL Central.

⚾️ Pitching Primer
Tyler Glasnow at DET
Glasnow led all pitchers in Sorare points in the month of July with 192 points.
I will preface by saying that his Sorare price has ballooned to about $30 for his 2022 Limited card and about $42 for his 2023 Limited card.
And while he looks like a sell-high in Sorare, if you own one of his cards then I recommend starting him this week against the Tigers.
Using a minimum 20 IP filter on Fangraphs, Glasnow ranks second in K% (34.5%) and second in xFIP (2.66).
Detroit is bottom-five in ISO, wOBA, and wRC+ on the year.
Limited Price: ~$30
Corbin Burnes vs PIT
Burnes has been electric since the All Star break, allowing just 4 runs over his last four starts while striking out 34.
After a relatively slow start to the season, he now ranks 30th in xFIP (3.91) and 25th in K% (25.2%).
The matchup against Pittsburgh is unthreatening. The Pirates have the 12th-highest K% (23.5%), and rank 23rd in wOBA (.306).
I expect Burnes to keep it rolling in this pitcher-friendly park.
Limited Price: ~$21
Other Starters Include:
~$20 Zac Gallen at MIN
~$7 Kyle Bradish vs NYM
~$16 Jesus Luzardo at TEX
~$10 Pablo Lopez vs ARI
~$14 Aaron Nola vs KCR
~$3 Alex Cobb at OAK
~$15 Luis Castillo at LAA
📞 Call To The Bullpen
With all but two teams playing three games in GW36, our best edge is to target series’ we think can stay close to maximize the chances of earning a save.
I do not recommend playing relievers from either the Giants or the Athletics
Series’ I think can stay close:
TEX/MIA, ARI/MIN, SEA/STL, LAD/SDP
Closer Options:
~$6 Will Smith
~$3 David Robertson
~$5 Paul Sewald (Just traded to Arizona, should take over closer role)
~$5 Jhoan Duran
~$5 Andres Munoz (Now in sole possession of Mariners’ closer role)
~$1 Giovanny Gallegos (Still filling in for Ryan Helsley)
~$3 Evan Phillips
~$15 Josh Hader
💰 Stacks
Phillies
Philly draws arguably the best pitching matchup on the board. They will face Jordan Lyles, Alec Marsh, and Zack Greinke of the Royals at home in Citizens Bank Park.
Lyles has a 5.36 xFIP, Marsh has a 5.60 and old-man Grienke has a 4.46.
While we’re on the subject of Royals pitching, I thought I’d include a snapshot of their starter’s stats.
The average xFIP is over 5.1 and only one, yes one, of these pitchers has over a 20% strikeout rate.
Just about any offense can be recommended against Kansas City, but Philly currently ranks 19th in ISO (.157), 15th in wOBA (.318), and 18th in wRC+ (97).
~$15 Kyle Schwarber
~$8 Alec Bohm
~$39 Bryce Harper
~$7 Nick Castellanos
~$28 Trea Turner
Blue Jays
Toronto will face James Paxton on Friday and two TBD pitchers of the Red Sox over the weekend.
I have no idea who the Sox plan to send out to the mound with Chris Sale’s status cloudy, Garrett Whitlock still on the IL, and Brayan Bello and Kutter Crawford scheduled for Monday and Tuesday, respectively.
The Jays always seem to play well at Fenway and I think we see some of these power-righties do some damage over the weekend.
Bo Bichette is still day to day, but a return would make me like this team even more.
~$13 Whit Merrifield
~$45 Vladimir Guerrero Jr.
~$8 George Springer
~$9 Matt Chapman
~$2 Daulton Varsho
Other Stacks to Consider:
Cardinals, Reds, Nationals, Brewers
Value Options (Under $20):
Middle Infield:
~$8 Tommy Edman, ~$12 Nolan Gorman, ~$16 CJ Abrams, ~$10 Isaac Paredes
Corner Infield:
~$15 Jeimer Candelario, ~$18 Ketel Marte, ~$15 Triston Casas, ~$12 Ryan Mountcastle
Outfield:
~$18 Steven Kwan, ~$15 Whit Merrifield, ~$19 Michael Harris Jr., ~$5 Brandon Marsh
