Sorare MLB GW39 Breakdown | Olson On Pace For 60
I am now 7 episodes deep into Tweet Talk.
For those who don’t follow me on Youtube, Tweet Talk is a new show I created.
I kept the format simple. I wanted to chat with interesting people from Twitter.
Although Elon Musk changed Twitter’s name to X about three weeks after I created the show. But I’m still going to keep the name.
With most of my Twitter conversations being about Sorare MLB, it made sense to reach out to some of the top community members and ask them about their strategy and thoughts on the game.
Baseball season will end eventually though, and I want to talk with people about a broad range of topics.
That’s why I left the title open-ended so that it isn’t confined to one niche.
I have some potential guests in mind where the conversation can revolve around Web3, crypto, markets, and other topics that would make for an interesting discussion.
I might even have a good one lined up for this week.
Stay tuned.
Let’s dive into GW39!
⏪ Game Week Rewind
2022 NL Cy Young winner Sandy Alcantara finished in first for the first time all season with a 10-strikeout, complete game against the Yankees.
Other notable names here include George Kirby, who carried his league-leading 2.5% walk-rate into a matchup against Baltimore.
Kirby threw a complete-game shutout with 7 punch outs against the O’s.
Also, Atlanta rookie Allan Winans struck out 9 Mets in his second ever start on Saturday.
Devin Williams unsurprisingly finished in first with one save and one win over the White Sox.
Williams is tied with Jordan Romano for fifth in saves this year with 28.
In second was Arizona’s newly-acquired closer Paul Sewald who hadn’t seen many save opportunities with the Dbacks leading the league in losses over the past two weeks.
The Braves were the obvious stack last week in a series against the Mets that included a double-header on Saturday.
Matt Olson added 3 homers to his league-leading total of 43. He is now on pace for 60 home runs on the year.
There was a clear drop off in points after the trio Braves, further proving the importance of having an extra game in a game week.
📋 Roster Movements

Jordan Romano - Should be activated for Tuesday’s game vs. Philly

⚾️ Pitching Primer
Logan Gilbert/Luis Castillo/George Kirby at KCR
The Mariners draw one of the best matchups in baseball as they head to Kauffman Stadium to take on the Royals.
Castillo ranks 9th in K% (28.2%) while Gilbert ranks 23rd (25.1%).
All three of these guys fall within the top-17 in xFIP, with Kirby leading the way at 3.57.
I would rank them 1. Castillo, 2. Kirby, 3. Gilbert. But it’s very close.
Kansas City has lowered their K% over the course of the season. The currently sit in 13th with a 23.5% mark.
However, this team has struggled to generate runs all season, evident by their 28th-ranked wRC+ (86).
Limited Prices: ~$10 Gilbert, ~$13 Castillo, ~$11 Kirby
Tyler Glasnow at SFG
Glasnow burned many manager two weeks ago when his start versus Detroit got scratched due to back spasms.
He was arguably the top option on the board, and hasn’t pitched in a game since then.
I’m going right back to the well against a Giants team that strikes out at the 4th-highest mark in the league (24.9%) and bottom-ten in most of the major offense metrics.
Using the 20 IP filter on Fangraphs, Glasnow ranks 3rd in K% (34.5%) and 3rd in xFIP (2.67).
Just remember this man is quite literally made of glass.
Limited Price: ~$18
Other Starters Include:
~$20 Max Fried vs NYY
~$18 Framber Valdez at MIA
~$10 Justin Verlander at MIA
~$13 Clayton Kershaw vs MIL
~$5 Kenta Maeda vs DET
~$11 Zack Wheeler at TOR
~$9 Aaron Nola at TOR
~$13 Blake Snell vs BAL
~$17 Kevin Gausman vs PHI
📞 Call To The Bullpen
I would recommend prioritizing the six teams playing four games this week, but we should also be looking for series’ we think can stay close so that our closers have a higher chance at a save opportunity.
Series’ I think can stay close:
PHI/TOR, CLE/CIN, LAA/TEX
Closer Options:
~$15 Josh Hader
~$1 Giovanny Gallegos
~$1 Brooks Raley
~$1 Carlos Hernandez
~$5 Paul Sewald
~$8 Andres Munoz
💰 Stacks
Mariners
Seattle will face Brady Singer, Jordan Lyles, Alec Marsh, and Angel Zerpa of the Royals in GW39.
Kansas City already had arguably the worst starting rotation in the majors, and they just lost veteran Zack Greinke to the IL who was one of their more serviceable arms.
The Mariners have been winning games with their stellar pitching staff but this lineup can still get the job done when the matchup presents itself.
Seattle ranks 15th in ISO (.165), 18th in wOBA (.312), and 14th in wRC+ (103).
~$80 Julio Rodriguez
~$4 Eugenio Suarez
~$5 Teoscar Hernandez
~$3 Ty France
~$4 Cal Raleigh
Cardinals
St. Louis will face J.P. Sears, Freddy Tarnok, and Paul Blackburn of the A’s, and then one game against Jose Quintana and the Mets on Thursday.
We know Oakland pitching has been bad this year, but people might now know that St. Louis hitting has been sneaky good.
The Cards rank 7th in ISO (.176), 5th in wOBA (.331), and 5th in wRC+ (111).
I was actually surprised when I saw these numbers.
The best part about the Cardinals is that most of the hitters in their starting lineup have really cheap price tags in the Sorare Marketplace.
You can scroll down to the Value Options section to see just what I’m talking about.
~$12 Lars Nootbaar
~$10 Paul Goldschmidt
~$18 Nolan Arenado
~$3 Willson Contreras
~$10 Nolan Gorman
Other Stacks to Consider:
Diamondbacks, Padres, Rockies, Braves
Value Options (Under $20):
Middle Infield:
~$8 Tommy Edman, ~$9 Isaac Paredes, ~$10 Nolan Gorman, ~$17 Adley Rutschman
Corner Infield:
~$8 Bryan Reynolds, ~17 Ryan Mountcastle, ~$15 Kyle Schwarber, ~$11 Jeimer Candelario
Outfield:
~$15 Lars Nootbaar, ~$16 James Outman, ~$10 Seiya Suzuki, ~$3 Tyler O’Neill
