☔️ Rain Check
The only concern this week would be in the Cubs/Nationals series.
However, there is just a 41% chance of rain on Sunday and my guess is they can squeeze in the game.
No RISK tag this week.
Washington D.C. (CHC at WSH) - 41% chance PM showers Sunday
Cincinnati (MIL at CIN) - 51% chance of thunderstorms Saturday
Cleveland (PIT at CLE) - 63% chance of thunderstorms Saturday
⚾️ Pitching Primer
Pablo Lopez/Bailey Ober vs TOR
The Blue Jays’ lineup is filled with young prospects at this point in the season.
Toronto is out of the playoff hunt and is using the rest of the season to get some reps in for their younger players.
Bryan Bello struck out nine Blue Jays the other day, and I think we see some more spike weeks for pitchers against them.
Lopez and Ober have been hot lately and I can see at least one of them having a big game here.
Ober has an 8.67 K/9 on the year which has been slightly better than Pablo’s.
Blake Snell vs MIA
Snellzilla cooled off against the Mariners in his last start.
He allowed six walks, which ramped up his pitch count early and forced an early exit.
I think he bounces back nicely here against Miami, who has one of the weakest offenses in baseball right now.
This is a great park for pitching, and Snell has a dominant 12.93 K/9 on the year, to go along with a 3.04 xFIP.
Other Starters Include:
Tarik Skubal vs BOS
Framber Valdez vs KCR
Zack Wheeler vs ATL
Logan Webb vs MIA
Dylan Cease at TBR
Shota Imanaga at WSH
Nick Pivetta at DET
Cole Ragans at HOU
📞 Call To The Bullpen
The closers from the Reds and the Brewers are going to stand out here with one extra game.
However, there are still some solid three-game options if you want to be a little different too.
Closers With Four Games:
Alexis Diaz - CIN
Devin Williams - MIL
Other Closer Options:
Emmanuel Clase - CLE
Ryan Helsley - STL
Josh Hader - HOU
Robert Suarez - SDP
Clay Holmes - NYY
Kenley Jansen - BOS
💰 Stacks
Brewers
Milwaukee draws four favorable matchups against the Reds at Great American Ballpark, which is one of the best parks in MLB for offense.
Hunter Greene and Nick Lodolo were both on the IL, so Cincy doesn’t have much to throw out there on the mound.
The Brewers are ninth in wOBA (.322) and 11th in wRC+ (106) on the season.
Reds
The Reds will also get four games, and they will avoid Freddy Peralta here.
DL Hall should be starting the second game today, while Colin Rea will start the first.
Cincinnati is ninth in ISO (.167), 16th in wOBA (.307), but just 25th in wRC+ (91) on the year.
Jonathan India and Ely De La Cruz would be my two favorites here.
Orioles
The Orioles draw just three games but will play the Rockies at Coors Field.
They’ve been a dominant offense all year, ranking second in wRC+ (114).
They have a whopping 6.48 total tonight against Gomber.
Other Stacks Include:
Cubs, Mariners, Yankees, Guardians
