☔️ Rain Check
Pittsburgh - 79% chance of rain Friday
Colorado - 40% snow (!) to rain Saturday
Atlanta - 96% chance of rain Sunday
⚾️ Pitching Primer
Corbin Burnes at KCR - Kansas City’s offense is starting to scare me but Burnes is the SP4. Burnes ranks 12th in xFIP (2.91).
Zack Wheeler vs CWS - I have the White Sox ranked as the worst team in baseball. They’re ranked 29th in ISO (.107), 30th in wOBA (.262) and 30th in wRC+ (67). FantasyPros has Wheeler as the SP2. This is an obvious one.
Aaron Nola vs CWS - The same logic applies to Nola. He’s listed at SP18.
Kutter Crawford at PIT - Don’t kill me if this backfires but Crawford has looked kind of good through four starts. His K/9 is 18th in MLB (10.13) and Pittsburgh has been striking out at the 7th-highest clip (24.5%).
Nick Lodolo vs LAA - He looked all the way back in first start since the beginning of last year. Granted it was against the White Sox, but the Angels don’t scare me outside of Trout.
Other Starters Include:
Cole Ragans vs BAL
Freddy Peralta at STL
Joe Ryan vs DET
📞 Call To The Bullpen
We are blessed with two four-gamers this week.
I’d suggest loading up on bullpen arms from these two games but don’t shy away from starting your studs as well.
Tanner Scott
Adbert Alzolay
Raisel Iglesias
Josh Hader
Jose Alvarado
Andres Muñoz
💰 Stacks
Marlins
We don’t have all the starters listed yet for the Cubs/Marlins series but it looks like one of these TBD pitchers should be Shota Imanaga. Jamison Taillon and Kyle Hendricks are both good matchups for hitters, the problem is picking which Marlin to play. Jazz Chisholm and Josh Bell would be my two favorites.
Cubs
We have an even fuzzier picture here. If I had to guess it would be Ryan Weathers, A.J. Puk, and Trevor Rogers. Keep in mind that these are four lefties. I would bump down Cody Bellinger, Michael Busch, and Mike Tauchman here, but the righties look like smash plays.
Mariners
415, 416, and 417 are the pitcher rankings we are dealing with here. All three have xFIPs north of 4.50 and a combined 0-8 record. This game is also being played at Coors. The Mariners have been cold but the Rockies are colder.
Dodgers
Start your studs. The Mets are tossing out the back end of their rotation. Start Freddie Freeman, Mookie Betts, and Shohei Ohtani every week, but start them even harder this week.
Astros
The same goes for Houston. They have plenty of studs on offense and I wouldn’t be surprised to see them be the top-scoring stack of the weekend. They will face Trevor Williams and Mitchell Parker who both have a ranking north of 350. Two of these guys are lefties so bump up Jose Altuve and Alex Bregman.
