☔️ Rain Check
Chicago - 83% chance of PM rain Friday
Mexico City - 0% probabilidad de lluvia
⚾️ Pitching Primer
Corbin Burnes vs. OAK - Dream spot for Burnes. Oakland whiffs at the highest rate in the league (27.8%) and is bottom-four in wRC+ (84). Burnes is ranked 19th in xFIP (3.04).
Tarik Skubal vs. KCR - Skubal has the third-lowest xFIP (2.51), and seventh-highest K% (31.3%). Kansas City doesn’t strike out as much as we would like (19%) but they’ve been about league-average at scoring runs.
Tyler Glasnow at TOR - He might very well be the best pitcher in the league. His K% is the seventh-highest (30.6%) and xFIP is the sixth-lowest (2.62). Toronto’s worrisome bats hit from the right side and have been a disappointment.
Other Starters Include:
Jesus Luzardo vs WSH
Pablo Lopez at LAA
Aaron Nola at SDP
Logan Gilbert vs. ARI
Kyle Harrison vs. PIT (If you like insane risks)
📞 Call To The Bullpen
Do not start a pitcher in Mexico City this weekend. Not only will they have just two games, but the ball should be flying out of this ballpark. The elevation of this ballpark is 7,349. The elevation of Denver, Colorado is 5,280. Plan accordingly.
Closers Options:
Craig Kimbrel (BAL)
James McArthur (KCR)
Tanner Scott (MIA)
Andres Muñoz (SEA)
Griffin Jax (MIN)
Edwin Diaz (NYM)
💰 Stacks
Astros/Rockies
The totals for the Mexico City series between the Giants and Padres last season were 4-6 and 11-16. This ballpark gives an insane boost to home runs and I think players from both of these teams are squarely in play despite playing just two games each.
The Astros have been the most disappointing team in MLB but draw two very beatable pitchers. Yordan Alvarez, Jose Altuve, and Kyle Tucker make for excellent stacking partners here.
Colorado is coming off a 10-run outing against San Diego and can provide some value on this slate. Hunter Goodman doesn’t have a Sorare card yet but he looks like someone who could ignite this offense.
Orioles
This Orioles’ offense has been winning Sorare contests left and right. Gunnar Henderson looks like a prime MVP candidate and this lineup can score in all kinds of ways. You can even stack the bottom of this order with success.
They draw the A’s this week who have nothing to be feared outside of their closer Mason Miller, who I have now nicknamed “Medieval Mason Miller” (I saw it on Twitter).
Rays
Any team facing the White Sox is going to be in a great spot this year. Chicago is the unquestioned worst team in the league from top to bottom, and look like they’ve given up on the season in April.
The Rays haven’t been too exciting on offense but I can see a two-man stack of Isaac Paredes and Randy Arozarena.
