It’s the MLB Offseason.
I haven’t been on here in quite some time.
Last year around this time I wrote an “Offseason Sorare MLB Game Theory Special” where I related three ideas from a book I was reading to game theory in Sorare MLB.
It was fun, and got me thinking more about types of writing I’d like to do in the future outside of just sports.
I love Sorare MLB, I really do.
As long as Sorare MLB is around I’ll have some cards in my wallet and I’ll be entering some contests.
Its game mechanics make it the most fun way to interact with sports, particularly baseball (in my opinion).
I even bought some 2023 Red Sox Sorare cards yesterday to get my collection to 22/26 for a nice 4% bonus.
Between my understanding of the crypto/NFT space, my 10-year experience playing fantasy baseball, and the extreme lack of content around such a new and niche product, I felt that it was the perfect opportunity to create this newsletter.
But I’ve been wanting to write something that goes beyond this hyper-niche topic of Sorare MLB, and even beyond the niche category of baseball, or sports in general.
Outside of the aforementioned “Offseason Sorare MLB Game Theory Special” from one year ago, this newsletter does not contain any evergreen content.
Whatever the opposite of evergreen is (everred?), is what this newsletter has been since its inception.
Sometimes, one article has just a handful of hours of usage before the slate locks and its substance is deemed expired.
That’s been fine with me, as I am always motivated by a love of the game and community to wake up and write the article. (My proud fact is I didn’t skip a single Game Week Breakdown for two straight seasons).
So anyway, what topics will I be tackling this offseason and for the foreseeable future?
I’ve been interested in game theory and contrarian thinking ever since I read the “Fantasy Sports For Smart People” book series by Jonathan Bales back in 2015.
In the ten years since, I have read around 100 books (I was too lazy to count all the ones in my bookshelf).
There have been many concepts I’ve learned and things I’ve read that have shaped the way I look at the world.
Like “Same As Ever” by Morgan Housel, which inspired last year’s evergreen piece.
My goal is to publish some long-form pieces, whether that be here or on a different platform (I know some people subscribed here just want to know which starting pitcher to roster in Limited Pro).
The long-term goal is to publish a physical book that covers all the ideas and blends them into one contrarian-thinking piece.
I’ll be traveling to Colombia on Saturday and staying there for three weeks.
Last year when I was in Colombia I came up with the idea for the Sorare MLB Strategy Guide, and had it published on Lucky Trader.
Shortly after, I created this Substack.
Maybe there’s something in the air there that spawns creativity for me.
Anyway, I thought I’d jump on here and let you all know this newsletter still exists and what to expect down the road.
I hope everyone is enjoying the Holidays and I look forward to posting more on here soon!
